The Drakensberg mountains boast a number of world class Golf Courses. Some of these top golf courses date back to 1887. Since then, the Drakensberg has been building its reputaion as a golfing destination with over 20 popular golf clubs. These courses are situated in the northern, southern and central drakenberg as well as the midlands meander.
There are 19 hole golf courses, 18 hole golf courses and 9 hole golf courses with alternative tees. Some of the golf courses are highly ranked and well recognised, including the Champagne Sports Resort Golf Course (Rated in the top 5 19th’s holes in SA). The golf courses are well manicured and have beatuiful scenery hence why some of the golf courses are rated as SA's most beautiful.
Drakensberg Country Clubs
Designed by Bob Grimsdell and opened in 1963, this 5852m golf course has 9 holes which takes around 2 and a half hours to play. The Club hires out clubs and has a bar that serves Breakfast and Lunch daily.
Gowrie Farm and Golf Estate
Gowrie Farm and Golf Estate offers a 18 hole golf course with besutiful scenery. The golf course is a walking course and no golf carts are permitted.
Mooi River Country Club
Enjoy a game of Golf on one of the most beautiful courses in the Midlands. The 11 hole, 18 tee par 72, rating 71 golf course will provide a challenge to the most discerning golfer. The club is a member of the Nedbank handicapping network. Social Competitions are played on Thursdays and Saturdays and visitors are welcome.
The Harrysmith Country Club
The Harrysmith 18 hole Golf Course was designed and created in 1887, making it the 3rd oldest golf course in South Africa. The Club has a bar, a halfway house, a baord room, function facilities and golf cart.
