Isandlwana Lodge

"Thou great and mighty chief!
Thou who hast an army…
The red soldiers came:
We destroyed them.
The mounted soldiers came:
We destroyed them.
The mounted police came:
We destroyed them…
When will they dare
To repeat their attack?"

Zulu victory song sung after the battle at Isandlwana

Isandlwana Lodge is situated in beautiful Isandlwana Valley and within the magnificent Drakensberg mountain range and is within comfortable driving distance of several of Africa's most spectacular game reserves.

ACTIVITIES:

This enables guests to combine enjoyment of Zululand’s rich wildlife heritage as well as the living history of the battlefields.
During your stay you will be able to re-live the history of both the Anglo-Zulu and the Anglo-Boer wars as well as experience the vibrant culture of the Zulu people. The adjoining Umfolozo and Hluhluwe game reserves, (the most long-established on the continent), host ‘The Big Five’ (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo), but are perhaps best known for the part they played in preventing the total extinction of Africa’s rhino population. Both the black and white species of rhino are found here.

Apart from the enthralling tales of the famous battles there is plenty to see and do during your stay at Isandlwana Lodge. Our inviting pool, built among the rocks, offers you a wonderful haven in which to relax and soak up the warm African sun after a morning of exploring the battlefield. In cooler weather and in the evening, our library will enable you to hone your knowledge of the history of the area.

After a day relaxing at the pool, soaking up the history or visiting other nearby attractions, relax with your favourite sundowner soaking in the majestic view from your private balcony. Make new friends in the pleasant surroundings of our lounge and allow our specialist chef to provide you with some of the finest fare in KwaZulu Natal.
