The Nest

 
   

The Nest has always been rich in history and adventure. From around the Late Iron Age the Bushmen painted eland and other images on the walls of caves from the Sebaaini Caves to Anton's Shelter and continued to do so through to the early Voortrekker days.

November 2000 saw the formation of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg World Heritage Site. The area was awarded this status by UNESCO in recognition of the brilliant natural and cultural excellence which should be preserved for future generations to appreciate.

FACILITIES:
The Nest offers a wide range of activities with swimming pool, tennis courts, mountain bikes, croquet lawn, horse riding, river walks and guided hikes into the mountains and championship bowling greens with professional coaching offered. We have an amazing inclusive tariff of all three excellent meals as well as morning and afternoon tea or coffee served on our verandah overlooking the Drakensberg range.

Arranged scenic drives enables you to visit Bushmen paintings, historic Anglo Boer war sites, or take you to listen to the famous Drakensberg Boys Choir, Aluka Rug factory, Kwa-Zulu Shoe factory and Meadow Sweet Herb farm.   There is a picturesque golf course, an airstrip for fly-in visitors, volleyball, table-tennis, billiards, pool, darts, satellite TV lounge, videos, library, a variety of indoor games and romantic candlelit dinner dances. 

ACCOMMODATION:
Set in acres of beautiful and well kept park-like gardens, the rooms offer a peaceful escape from the hustle of city life, which by choice have no televisions in the rooms.
All rooms are en-suite, have tea / coffee making facilities and radio, and will soon also all have ceiling fans, electronic safes, undercarpet heating and heated towel racks.
This delightful country hotel set amidst the scenic Drakensberg Mountains. Charming thatched rondavels and rooms are set in 25 acres of trim, tranquil, park like gardens.

Moutain Facing Rooms:
Each of these rooms has a private balcony ideal for morning tea or sundowners whilst taking in the spectacular view that each room enjoys.

Premier Garden Rooms:
Recently refurbished with underfloor heating, heated towel racks, fans and new décor.

Paraplegic Rooms:
The Nest is very accessible for wheel-chair bound people and there are a few rooms that are ideal. One of the rooms has a very large roll-in shower area.

Honeymoon:
The Nest attracts a lot of honeymooners keen to get away from the madding crowd. We welcome you to be our guest on your honeymoon, prepare to be spoilt!

Executive Suites:
We have two new executive suites. Each one is over 150 square meters and comprises of a large bedroom, bathroom, fireplace, air-conditioning, kitchenette, TV, Internet port and large balcony with an excellent view of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg.

DINING:
We are one of the few Resort Hotels left which offer you cuisine à la Table d’Hote all included in our tariff. This means that we serve you daily three carefully selected meals of traditional South African tasty country cooking.

Full, hearty breakfasts, light lunches and six course dinners as well as morning and afternoon tea and coffee on our verandah overlooking the impressive Drakensberg. Sunday dinner at Lunch is our grand meal of the week.
