The rooms are designed for complete comfort and incorporate a blend of natural colours and use contemporary natural materials. There are many local artists that are well renowned that have been involved with design of this lodge including Bron Stofberg, Hillary Grant Curry, Clive Hatton and Sarah Richards.

We are an owner run adult only 4 star boutique lodge and nature reserve nestled in the heart of Kamberg Valley, Drakensberg, part of the beautiful Midlands Meander.

Qambathi has is a truly romantic setting surrounded by Drakensberg mountains and the valleys of the Midlands. Expect excellent service to go along with the superb cuisine. While the lodge does offer a Bed and Breakfast option, we belive to really experience Qambathi you should indulge in the sumptious 5 course dinner experience.

A total of only five suites makes Qambathi a very personal and stress free oasis. The garden rooms have their own private decks with hanging chairs overlooking the gardens and mountain. The Chill Lounge and Pool Deck area offer panoramic views, ideal to enjoy a late afternoon sundowner or to simply relax in the sun.

Enjoy the Qambathi forest trail taking you deep into one of the last remaining indigenous forests in the Kamberg valley or a casual walk on the existing game trails to enjoy the beautiful views where zebra and blesbok keep you company.

Our horses are well schooled, not your "nose-to-tail" trail horse and our experienced guides will offer instruction throughout your horse ride. Our trails are all scenic and cover a variety of terrain, so whilst safe, they are also entertaining.

Ideal for novices and not-so-fit riders. This affordable 1,5 or 1 hour horse trail is great for couples and friends looking for a gentle introduction to trail riding. R500/R400

Weddings and Conferencing:

Qambathi Mountain Lodge also feartures a large boutique wedding barn that can be used as a wedding venue as well as a conference venue. The barn features a large fire place boma with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

There is also the option of having your ceremony on the timber decks which is tucked away in the forest and overlooks a near by stream as well as the deck near the main lodge which over looks the garden. Qambathi Mountain Lodge can accommodate up to 80 guests in the venues.
The lodge is situated near a stone church which makes it ideal for those wanting to have a church wedding as well as lodge accommodation.

It is 30 minutes from the popular Nottingham Road area or from Mooi River.

Directions From Durban To Qambathi Mountain Lodge

  • Travel northbound on the N3 and take the Nottingham Road off ramp (exit 132).
  • Turn right and travel to the village of Nottingham Road.
  • Keep right under the railway bridge and continue through village on to Rosetta (R103) 8km away.
  • At Rosetta turn left onto the Kamberg Rock Art Centre Rd and travel 29.2km along this road
  • Turn left onto Mpofana Road, sign posted Kamberg Rock Art Centre and Qambathi.
  • 2km along a dirt road, Qambathi is on your right.
  • Drive all the way down the track, and enjoy the warm welcome from the Qambathi team, you have arrived.

  • Travel southbound on the N3 until the Mooi River Plaza, pay toll on far left and exit immediately.
  • Turn right over freeway until T junction, Engen and Wimpy straight ahead.
  • Turn left onto Old Main Road (R103) to Rosetta 7km away.
  • At Rosetta turn right onto the Kamberg Rock Art Centre Rd and travel 29.2km along this road
  • Turn left onto Mpofana Road, sign posted Kamberg Rock Art Centre and Qambathi.
  • 2km along a dirt road, Qambathi is on your right.
  • Drive all the way down the track, and enjoy the warm welcome from the Qambathi team, you have arrived.
